Citizen Warning
System for Security
I believe we
need to have a Warning System for Private Security in the United States.
If our local
law enforcement agencies are alerted to some time of potential terrorist attack,
or suspects. Shouldn't we in the private security field be alerted too? For we
are eyes and ears in our communities and we outnumber law enforcement personnel
by 3 to 1. Also, in a broad sense, the suspects could be targeting one of our
security accounts, and you.
I believe we
should have a system in place like the Citizen Warning System that is being
developed in the National Capital Region.

Here is what is
said about the National Capital Region warning system:
"The local
governments in the National Capital Region are building citizen warning systems
(CWS) to rapidly alert residents with vital information in case of an emergency.
The technology sends text messages to devices capable of receiving short message
service (SMS) formatted information. E-mail accounts, most wireless phones,
pagers, and wireless personal digital assistants (PDAs), such as Blackberrys,
may receive these alerts."
"Local
government emergency management experts will issue alerts on a variety of topics
such as weather news, transportation advisories, and information on terrorist
incidents. Residents may register their message-receiving devices to receive
alerts issued by one or more jurisdictions. If people work and live in different
jurisdictions, they may wish to sign up for alerts from both places."
This only make
sense that some type of alert system be put in place through our Homeland
Security given all the cell phones we now possess. Also, what is happening in
the National Capital Region is demonstrating that such a system is possible to
alert security officers in Regional areas and this type of system should be
developed.
